Dance Into Spring

Sweets For The Sweet
Caritas House Inc. will hold its annual gala event with the 14th Annual Sweets For The Sweet Saturday March 20th from 7pm-midnight at the Ramada Inn on Scott Avenue in Morgantown. Join your friends for an evening of delicious dessert tasting and entertainment. Several area restaurants will feature one of their special desserts. Partipants will have the opportunity to sample them all and vote for their favorite. Restaurants planning to attend the event include Maxwell's, Synergy Chop House, Classics Restaurant, Coldstone Creamery, Richwood Grill, Ali Baba's and Claudia Atkinson Catering. This year for the first time, the event will include music and dancing to the sounds of Samba Nova. Tickets are on sale now for $20.00 and can be obtained by calling 304-985-0021 or will be available at the door. In addition to live music, there will be live & silent auctions, door prizes, 50/50 drawing and strip tickets. Everyone purchasing a ticket is eligible to win one of the door prizes which includes a flat screen tv, a resort getaway and a large gift basket. Proceeds will benefit Caritas House. Since 1994, Caritas House has been serving persons affected by HIV/AIDS and homelessness. It offers housing support, case management, prevention education, community education and advocacy throughout 25 northern counties in West Virginia.
Spring Buckwheat & Sausage Feed
The Spring Buckwheat and Sausage Feed will be held Saturday March 20th from 7am-noon at the Benedum Civic Center in downtown Bridgeport. This event is sponsored by the Bridgeport Kiwanis. There will be Preston County style buckwheat cakes and sausage, coffee, milk and takeouts will be available. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $6.00/adults, Free/children 6yrs and under. 2010 Irish Legends Gala
Join the Harrison County Catholic Schools for the Irish Legends Gala honoring Senator Joe Minard, Tom Basile, Betty Larosa, Mary Rose Mazza Hendricks and Tommy Thomas. Weight Loss Challenge
Local area resident Stacy Priester, a Personal Wellness Coach, has launched a 12 week non-profit class that will offer tips on nutrition and exercise, paired with a hint of competition and a lot of fun. The challenge will take place on Tuesday nights at 7pm at Fairmont State University Gaston Caperton Center in Clarksburg. The WLC will end Tuesday March 23, 2010. Cash prizes will be awarded to the Top 3 Biggest Losers (Winners) who lose the biggest percentage of their weight. It is based on percentage which makes it an equal competition for both men & women. A portion of the entrance fee will be donated to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. There is no specific weight loss program required to join the challenge. Tunnelton Youth League Baseball Sign-Ups
The Tunnelton Youth Athletic Association has announced baseball signups schedule for the week of March 15th and the the week of March 22nd. The sign-ups schedule will be as follows: T-Ball/Ages 5-8, Softball/Ages 9-12, Little League/Ages 9-12, Girls Softball/Ages 13-18, Pony League?Ages 13-16. The fee is $22.00 per person. Doggie Easter Egg Hunt
WVDogs has organized a Doggie Easter Egg Hunt Saturday March 27th at the Bridgeport Softball field behind the school and at the Clarksburg Dog Park at VA Park. Two events will be held the same day, so being your well behaved pet for a fun event. There will be plenty of eggs with doggie treats for your pet to find as well as some special prizes. All pets must be on a leash at all times. Times for the events are as follows: 10am Registration by donation. Egg hunt begins at 11am at Bridgeport Softball Field. Fun Clean Up Day
The West Union Community Clean-up Committee is planning a Fun Clean-up Day Saturday April 10th. Volunteers are needed for team captains as well as volunteers. Trash bags, gloves, a dump truck for the day and disposal fees are being provided by 2010 WV Make It Shine Statewide Cleanup. The event is being sponsored by REAP initiative within the Department of Environmental Protection and Division of Highways. The West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival's Annual Spring Gala will be held Saturday April 17th at the Village Square Conference Center in Clarksburg. The theme is Carnival In Venice.
