First Ever Dinosaur Skeleton Exhibit in WV

The Blue Jean Ball

Date:  March 7th

Time: 6:00 p.m.

Location: Benton Grove Bed and Banquet House

Event Details: RSVP by Feb. 20th. The West Virginia and Trust is partnering with the Mon River Trails Conservancy. Guests will be dressing up their favorite blue jeans for a fun evening, enjoying a delicious southern meal with a host bar, dancing to a live band, and bidding on silent items. Musical entertainment will be provided by Total Meltdown bluegrass band. All funds will be used to raise awareness in support of the land protection of public recreational green spaces in the Mon Valley.

Harrison County Young Life Spaghetti Dinner

Date: March 1st

Time: 11:30 - 2:30 p.m.

Location:  Lincoln High School

Event Information:  The Menu includes Salad, pasta, bread, drink, and dessert. Cost Adults $8, children $5. Proceeds go to Young Life of Harrison County.

BPL: Teen Read-A-Thon

Date: March 2nd

Time: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Location: Bridgeport Public Library

Event Details:  Teens between the ages of 13-19 are invited to a Read-A-Thon! Books will of course be available for the program, but teens are also welcome to bring a book as well! BPL: Story Laboratory-Seuss Celebration!

Date: March 5th

Time: 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Location: Bridgeport Public Library

Event Details: Children between the ages of 4- 12 will create flower pots with the Lorax characteristics! Craft Materials will be provided. Several Dr. Seuss books will be read to children during the program. Registration is required and can be easily done by calling the library at 304-842-8248 or stopping at the library's back circulation desk. If you have any questions please contact Amy Eakle.

Dinner with Dr. Seuss

Date: March 6th

Time: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Location: Midland Elementary School

Event Details:  Dinner with Dr, Seuss, Pork Barbecue Dinner including cole slaw, chips, dessert and a drink for $7. Take-out or Dine-in. Pork being prepared by Dave Bobes. Call Midland Elementary School at 304-636-9186 for tickets. All proceeds will benefit Midland Elementary School.

 

 

BPL:Dog Day

Event Details: The Bridgeport Public Library invites all children to Dog Day. The Mountaineer Therapy Dogs will be present and eager to have children read stories aloud to them! Call the Library at 304-842-8248 to reserve a time slot for your child.

 

BPL: Teen Art Night - Drawing!

Date: March 9th

Time:  6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Location: Bridgeport Public Library

Event Details: All teens between the ages of 13-19 are invited to an evening devoted to drawing! Participants will use the library's collection of drawing instruction books to sketch the creatures of their imagination! With St. Patrick's Day around the corner, teens may be inspired to draw fairies and other fantasy characters that call Ireland home. If you have any questions contact Sarah at 304-842-8248.

 

BPL: Story Time with the Cast Of BHS Theater's Production of Peter Pan

Date: March 10th

Time: 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Location: Bridgeport Public Library

Event Details:  All Children are invited to Story Time at the library with the characters of Peter Pan. Costumed BHS theater students will read the beloved story to attendees and meet with fans.

BPL: Pizza and Pages

Date: March 12th  

Time: 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Location: Bridgeport Public Library

Event Details: "Pizza and Pages" is a book discussion group for children between the ages of 8-12. Children will discuss The Moorchild by Eloise McGraw. Children interested in participating in the group are invited to borrow a copy of the book from the library. Pizza and refreshments will be provided for participating children. 2nd Annual Harrison County Young Life Dodge Ball Tournament

Date: March 13th

Time: 9:30 - 2:00 p.m.

Location: "The Gem" in Maulsby Cove near Shinnston, WV

Event Details: Double Elimination tournament, teams of 6-10 players. Anyone from Middle School age to adults can play. $10/player before Feb. 25 / $15 through day of event. Sign up by Feb. 25th to ensure you get a t-shirt! For more information go to harrisoncounty.younglife.org

BPL: Tabletop Gaming!

Date: March 14th and 20th

Time: 12:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Location:  Bridgeport Public Library

Event Details: Tabletop gaming at the BPL is a growing success! The library will begin hosting gamers twice a month in March! All adults and teens of all levels of gaming expertise are welcome to participate in games such as Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Catan, Takenoko, and Much more! Vera Bradley Bingo

Date: March 15th

Time: Doors open at Noon, Bingo starts at 2:00 p.m.

Location: VFW in Clarksburg

Event Details: This event is a fundraiser for The Progressive Women's Association Fundraiser.  20 Games, $20 and cover all. Tips, 50/50, and much more. Concession will be available. Tcikets on sale at Uptown Event Center or by calling 304-624-6881 or 304-629-3236.

Lent Fish Dinner

Date: February 27th, March 13th, and March 27th.

Event Details: St. Patricks Knights of Columbus is having 3 fish Dinners. Menu: Fried fish, cole slaw, fries, and dessert. Cost is $8.00 take out only.

 

Buckhannon Police Department Citizens Academy

Date: March 4th - April 29th (Once a week on Wednesday's)

Time: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Location: Buckhannon Police Department

Event Details: Sign up by picking up an application at the Police Department, between the hours of 8:00 - 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. at our new location of 24 South Florida St. (Located next to the Fire Department). CAPE Federal Credit Union's 68th Annual Shareholder's Meeting

Date: March 21st

Time:  Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and Dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m.

Dining with Diabetes: A Program for People with Diabetes and their Families

Date: Tuesday, March 10th - Tuesday, March 31st (Only on Tuesday's)

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Location: UHC

Event Information: Dining with Diabetes program is once again being offered by the West Virginia Bureau for Public Health, Diabetes Prevention and Control Program and the WVU Extension Service. The curriculum includes updated information reflecting current diabetes nutrition practices, clinical education, data collection, exercise components, easy recipe demonstrations, delicious food tasting and a supportive segement reducing stress. Stained Glass Classes

Date: April 9, 10, or 11th

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Location: Arthurdale

Event Details: Dave Houser is returning to Arthurdale to teach ather series of Stained Glass Classes. Students will be able to select the colors of both the tube and the color wheels, meaning each person will walk away with a truly unique final product. The cost is $50.00 for members and $60.00 for non-members. There are only 8 spots for each day so be sure to sign up soon!
